1) Dogs can see in colour
It has been proven that dogs can see in colour. However, their spectrum of colours is nowhere as complex as human beings. Dogs see in yellow, greys and blues.
2) Chocolate is toxic to dogs
As much as we love chocolate, unfortunately it isn't something which should be passed onto your canine companions. Chocolate is toxic, and in some cases can be deadly. It is important to keep these snacks hidden away!
3) Dogs can have dreams, and nightmares too
Studies in recent years have proven that dogs can dream, and have nightmares too! It has also been suggested that dogs' dreams can be quote similar to humans, given their long term memory capabilities.
4) Dogs have the same intelligence level as 2-year old toddlers!
Your dog is very intelligent. So much so, this can be measured alongside the level of a 2-year old toddler! This means they are able to pick up on words, meanings and also a range of gestures.
5) Dogs can bond with humans through eye contact
Dogs and humans are the only two species who can seek and understand visual clues from our eyes! It has been proven that the bond between humans and dogs is similar to a mother-child bond.

6) Dogs have over 7,000 LESS taste buds than humans!
Dogs have around 1,700 taste buds, compared to the 9,000 which we humans have. Some of their taste buds are sensitive to water.
7) A dog's whiskers can sense changes in airflow
A dog's whiskers are small, sensitive to touch and can be found above the eyes, on the muzzle and below the jaw. Given their sensitivity, they can detect minute changes to airflow.
8) Greyhounds can run upto a speed of 45mph
It's true, Greyhounds can manage to get to speeds of 45 mph! That's 26 mph faster than the average dog, who's speeds are 19 mph. This stat makes the Greyhound the second fastest animal behind the cheetah.
9) Dogs can smell week-old human fingerprints
The best breed for this is the German Shepherd, which are typically used in the police force as search dogs!
10) Dogs do not like rain because the amplified sound can hurt their ears.
